Scarborough Fair: NTE’s Wish System Explained

Neverness to Everness ships with a wish system unlike any other gacha. Forget pulling cards from a deck — Scarborough Fair is a board game with dice, tiles, and a moving piece called a Chuppa. This guide breaks down every moving part.

The 30-Second Summary

  • You spend a Dice (the wish currency) to roll a 6-sided die.
  • Your Chuppa piece advances by however many pips you rolled.
  • The tile you land on determines your reward.
  • S-class tiles are the prize — landing on one drops an SSR character.
  • The base S-tile rate is roughly 0.6%, ramping at pull 70 and guaranteed by pull 90.
  • There is no 50/50: every featured-banner SSR is the unit you wanted.

The Board

Scarborough Fair’s board is a closed loop of tiles. Most tiles award common materials, currency drops, or low-rarity gear; a small minority are S-class tiles that cash out an SSR. Walking the board with each pull, your Chuppa moves clockwise based on dice rolls.

The board has a soft-pity threshold at pull 70 — when crossed, the visual layout upgrades and the proportion of S-tiles spikes from ~0.6% to roughly 19.59%. By pull 90 the board reconfigures one final time and the next roll is guaranteed to land on an S-tile.

How a Wish Resolves

  1. You spend 1 dice (or 10 in a 10-pull).
  2. The game rolls 1d6.
  3. Your Chuppa advances that many tiles around the board.
  4. The destination tile’s reward is granted.
  5. If the tile is an S-tile, you get the banner’s featured character; pity resets to 0. Otherwise, your pity counter increments by 1.

The dice is fair — every face has a 1/6 probability — but tile placement controls the actual S-class rate. Hotta Studio publishes the equivalent base rate as 0.6%, ramping sharply once you cross the soft-pity threshold.

Why Scarborough Fair is Different

1. No 50/50 mechanic

In most gacha games, a featured-banner SSR has a 50% chance of being the “wrong” unit. NTE removes this entirely. When you land on an S-tile on a featured banner, the character you get is the featured character — period. This is the single biggest player-friendly difference between NTE and Genshin/HSR/ZZZ.

2. Pity carries across banners (within the same type)

If you reach pull 40 on the Nanally banner without an SSR, your 40 pity carries forward to the next featured banner. Your progress is never reset by a banner ending.

3. Soft pity is wide, not razor-thin

The 70-90 soft-pity window is generous. By pull 80 you’re in roughly 66% S-tile territory; by pull 85, ~96%. You almost always finish before hitting the 90-pull ceiling, but the ceiling is a real, hard guarantee.

4. Arc (weapon) banner is its own beast

Arc weapons use Tri-Keys and only support 10-pulls. Soft pity is at 60 instead of 70, and any S-class Arc has a 25% chance of being the featured Arc, with a 20-pull guarantee fallback.

Plan Your Pulls

Scarborough Fair’s math is fully simulated by our tools — you don’t need to do the calculus yourself.

  • Wish Simulator — run 10,000 Monte Carlo iterations to see the real distribution of pulls needed for an SSR.
  • Pity Tracker — log every wish so you never lose track of your soft-pity ramp.
  • Annulith Budget Calculator — enter your stash and get the probability of landing the unit you want.
