Beginner's Guide: Getting Started in Arknights Endfield
Updated: Mar 1, 2026
Everything you need to know to start your journey in Talos-II, from basic mechanics to early-game priorities.
## Welcome to Talos-II
Arknights: Endfield is an open-world RPG with real-time combat set on the planet Talos-II. This guide covers the essential systems every new player should understand.
## Core Mechanics
### Combat System
Endfield features real-time action combat with a party of up to 4 characters. You directly control one character while the AI manages the others. Key concepts:
- **Elements**: There are 5 elements — Physical, Electric, Cryo, Heat, and Nature. Each has strengths and weaknesses against others.
- **Roles**: Characters fill roles like Vanguard (frontline DPS), Striker (burst DPS), Defender (tank), Guard (melee support), Caster (ranged DPS), and Supporter (healer/buffer).
- **Weapon Types**: Sword, Great Sword, Polearm, Handcannon, and Arts Unit each have distinct playstyles.
### Resource Management
- **Originium**: Premium currency. Spend wisely on limited banners.
- **T-Creds**: General currency for shops and upgrades.
- **Combat Records**: Used to level up characters.
## Early-Game Priorities
1. **Complete the Main Story** through Chapter 3 to unlock all game systems.
2. **Build a balanced team** with at least one character from each role.
3. **Don't spread resources thin** — focus on 4-5 characters initially.
4. **Redeem all active codes** for free resources (check our Codes page).
5. **Join a guild** as soon as possible for daily rewards.
## Team Building Tips
A solid beginner team should include:
- 1 DPS (Vanguard or Striker)
- 1 Sub-DPS (Caster or Striker)
- 1 Tank (Defender or Guard)
- 1 Support (Supporter)
## Daily Checklist
- Complete daily commissions
- Spend stamina on material farms
- Check the shop for discounts
- Do your daily pull if saving for a banner
## What to Avoid
- Don't use Originium on standard banner pulls
- Don't level all characters equally — focus your resources
- Don't skip weapon upgrades — they matter as much as character levels
- Don't ignore the base building system — it provides passive income
