Master the fundamentals of Reverse: 1999's card-based combat system and learn which Arcanists to prioritize.
Welcome, Timekeeper
Reverse: 1999 is a turn-based strategy RPG with a unique card-based combat system. As the Timekeeper Vertin, you travel across different eras gathering Arcanists.
Combat System
Combat uses a card-based system where you play spell cards each turn:
- Spell Cards — Each Arcanist has unique spell cards with different effects
- Card Merging — Combine identical cards to create stronger versions
- Ultimate Cards — Powerful abilities that charge over time
- Positioning — Front row takes more damage but deals more; back row is safer
Arcanist Roles
- DPS — High damage dealers (37, Centurion, Regulus)
- Support — Healers and buffers (Tooth Fairy, Medicine Pocket, Vila)
- Tank — Damage absorbers (Sotheby, Baby Blue)
- Debuffer — Apply status effects and reduce enemy stats
Insight Levels
Arcanists grow through Insight levels (I, II, III), which unlock new abilities and stat boosts:
- Insight I — Basic unlock, provides stat boost
- Insight II — Unlocks passive ability
- Insight III — Maximum power, unlocks full skill set
Beginner Tips
- Focus on 4-6 Arcanists and max their Insight levels.
- Save Clear Drops for limited banners.
